First Cross-Country Race

PENSBY SHOULD BE PROUD OF OUR CROSS-COUNTRY TEAM
Eight intrepid Men and four gazelle like ladies ran through the mist surrounding Clarke Gardens to complete the first Pensby cross-country league race of the new season. Well done to one and all. There were various interpretations of kit suitable for cross-country from Stu’s Spiderman kit bag to Richard’s lime green spikes! I must say, however, that the prize for the best presented Pensby runner must go to Dom Roberts who even had spikes in the club colours! A big thank you to Nigel Pratten, who came along as bag man and official photographer. The course was the usual mixture of parkland, woods and stream. The ground was soft but not too muddy but don’t worry the real testing courses have yet to come! For the ladies Sarah Roberts was our first counter (4th) closely followed by Sarah Worley (7th), not bad for her first race for the club! Both were well supported by Ali Lewis (14th) and Lucy Partridge (18th). Simon Rogers (30th) was our first counter for the men, closely followed by Gary (38th). The remaining men all ran well finishing in 64th (Rob Beech), 108th (Dom Roberts), 123rd (Richard Shayle), 151st (Stuart Barnard), 171st (Gordon Scholefield) and 199 (Colin Lamprey). Thank you to everyone for supporting the club and for an enjoyable Sunday morning in the country! The good news is we can do it all again next week in Stadt Moers Park, more information and League Table to follow.
